View Full Version : 900 miles in five days on a push bike......................
Lands end to John-o-Groats in five days on a push bike:eek:, average 190 miles per day:eek:, looking like 12 to 17 hrs in the saddle every day:( thats what myself and seven other soldiers from my barracks are doing for the Army Benevolent Fund, starts on the 7th of june, we are all doing the whole mileage too not just in relays, the charity looks after soldiers and their familys when they return injured from doing their job, even worse when they don't come back at all:(, so if you have a bit of spare time log onto the just giving link and give us a quid or two, we have an 8K target and are well on our way to making it, i've been putting in the miles and training hard, done over 2000 miles over the last few weeks:eek:, so drop a £ into the pot and leave us a message, we are gonna update with pics every evening so you can see how we are getting on, here is the link

This is his bike!
A special long range model ...
looks like all the training is paying off, took part in the Royal Engineer mountain bike champs yesterday, 55 riders took part in a 4 hour cross country race in souring temperatures, the first lap was very close between four riders but as the race got into its stride i got to the front and won it, even better was the news at the end when the second rider came in 14 minutes later:eek:, so the training was worthwhile, i'm gonna rest up ready for monday now;), cheers for all the support lads

Hello everyone,
Just a quick update for you all. Just spoke to my man Taff and he sounds remarkably good. They all made it on day one, 202 miles covered, they left Lands End at 5am this morning and they all arrived at Bristol at 7pm this evening. His words not mine "It ****ed down all day but it was warm". So far so good !!
I will give another progress report for you all tomorrow.
Thanks everyone

Can you ask him what time he is expecting to pass through Gretna on Wednesday as I want to arrange a visiting party for him :)
Well done Graham
 impressive stuff
Met up with the boys at Gretna today.
Can't believe how healthy they all looked considering that they had just done 135 miles in 8 hours including a climb over Shap into a headwind :eek::bow::bow:
Does anyone know who the Ethiopian at the front is :p You could play tunes on his ribcage :D

Hello again everyone,
Just spoke to Mr Taff and again he sounded really up beat. They left Warrington at 6am this morning and arrived in Moffet at 8.30pm this evening. Total of 13 hours in riding time.....crazy. The weather was half rain and dry. They rode through Shap just outside Kendal and think it was not too long after before they saw Martin, Michelle and the baby. The finish was a bit of a long one.....8 miles of climbing just after Moffet.
He is now getting an early night ready for another day.
Cheers everyone
