View Full Version : Anti-Theft devices
What all devices do you use to stop/ deter theft?
Ive got a few planned, simple but effective unless you know what your looking for ;) but Im still nervous about parking the escort somwhere descrete
I know that immobilising a dizzy-powered car is pretty ineffective since theres little to immobilise but how about a thatcham 1 alarm? anyone got one fitted, or reccomend one?
Thanks

I suggest any answers to this post are genaralised and not specific to that persons own car
Dont want you all writing a "How To Pinch My Car" book for anyone out there
oh hell no, i dont want anyone to put specific information about their car up, im not putting up anything about mine, haha call me paranoid but i dont want to risk anything haha
Im just after general ideas or experiances and mainly peoples opinions on some of the thatcham approved alarms

Hide a baby monitor in your car / garage......
The only problem is, you cannot go to the pub or pop to the shops :o
Better than nowt though I suppose ! :D
BUY A toyota NO BODY WANTS THEM PROBLEM SOLVED:eek:
Get a 12v - 240v Transformer and wire it upto something metal ;)
 Some er, intersting ideas there guys lol
thought of some more tho, move the starter solenoid inside the cabin, right up near the scuttle, too hard to get access to short out, would mean that the car basically cant be started unless you come well prepared, still need to figure out a way to immobilise the coil though
Amongst other things I use a Disclok...bought mine in the early nineties & at the time car crime was big news on the tv.
There were loads of tests done by ex car thieves etc & most mechanical anti theft devices look less than a minute to remove. The disclok foiled most of the attempts to get it off.
Of course anyone armed with an angle grinder wouldn't have too much trouble
Might be worth considering

Of course non of the above are much use, when they can just 'lift' or 'drag' your car onto a flatback.
Or the thief dressed as an RAC man in an orange flatback in the car park of big shows, no one batters an eyelid, even with alarm going off. Iv experienced it first hand.
i use a krooklok, bloody brilliant :D
