looking for a daily at the mo, max budget £2500 as this is all I have left after selling my Racing Puma and stashing some for the mexico respray

must be half practical but would also like a bit of go :D

have been looking at RS turbo's RS 2000 mk5/6's but there mostly sheds for that cash, also been looking at scooby's ST 200's ST 220's, alfa GTV's Alfa 156's E46 BMW's X type Jag's even fabia VRS's

pretty varied really, anyway have noticed GTI turbo's are in my budget, looking round the net they seem resoanble on fuel, go well, have recaro's and stuff as std and I can afford a resasonable one for £2500 I also know nowt about them, anyone got any pointers

or stuff I should be spending my budget on.............

PMSL.

If you can get one Glyn then go for a GTTDI 130. I have the PD150 and have done for the past 7 years now. Superb cars. get it re-mapped and you'll be in torque heaven :) Will take it from 130bhp to about 180bhp. The TDI 115 is also a good car mappable to 160bhp.
The Petrol GTi is also a great car and available in both 150 and 180bhp. Both easily mappable as well with good gains. A re-map will also increase the fuel economy by 5mpg ;)

A TDI will return 50mpg all day long and is in a cheaper tax bracket.

Well done Glyn, Looks very nice, Just needs a set of lowering springs now ;) Is it the 150 or 180bhp model? Nothing really goes wrong with them if properly serviced. Make sure the cam belt is changed on time. Only weakness on them are rear axle bushes. (Clunk when going over a bump) Have fun sir :)

Nice one Glyn, you have re-joined the Golf Club

Park it next to my Gti and it will look even better :D

Sun roof and air con combination is unusual ! Mine has a sun roof and no air con, my Mums has air con and no sunroof !

You need to Cam belt it for definite !

Can I expect a visit this afternoon in the new wheels ??

I had a GTDI PD130 as a Company car from 2002 to 2005 was a quick car never had any problems with it ,only when I drove it through a flood and it took in water to the engine and bent the con rods ,Insurance paid for a full new engine .
I didn't find it very comfortable on long runs though ,the BMW 320 Coupe I had after it was a much better car (alot more money though)
I would have another one as a runabout but when I found out a Balding Nobber :winka: has one and he thinks it is cool and the best car on the Planet I quickly changed my mind about owning another one.
