This Will be the begining of my Project Log. will try and keep it up to date.
Collection of the Car http://www.woodoouk.eclipse.co.uk/Mexico%20Pics/collection.jpg
The Car Came with most of the bits The all came piled in the car and in 3 large boxes. Below is everything that i took out of the car. However most of the parts do not even apear to be Ford Parts. Possibly VW seeing as i also found 4 NGK spark plugs with VW/Audi Logos on them and a Haynes manual for Mk2 Golf/Jetta's :)

Tommorow the car will be put up on axle stands and see what the suspention is like and see if it needs a rebuild.

Looks like you've got enough servos anyway! :clown:
Tape those aluminium carpet trims to a bit of wood before they get bent - they're rare!
Before you ask the question - it's Beta Cloth that you need for the rear seat and it's pretty pricey.
That parcel shelf looks pretty good, actually!
BTW are they newish 6"x13" on the car?
Let us all know what route you plan to take with thecar as that helps when giving advice! i.e. concours road car, track racer, budget project, daily driver etc.

tbh, im not sure weither the wheels have just been sprayed or they are new the rear wheels are still original with the black paint inserts.
I know the wheels are 13 but not sure what the width is (will check when i get home) it currently has 205/60/13 that are completley useless as they have been stood for 12 years and are probably rock hard.

finaly making a start, Looks like the head on my engine has been ported and polished latley wish is a bonus. Unsure weither the cam is standard (says S-723 on rear end of it) vales are still nice and shiney, look like a new head gasket. however due to the head being re-worked im goin to take the block apart and see if anything else has been done to the engine.
Whent out and bought my first few bits. New pair of Billy shocks, and Exhaust system and braided brake hoses.

[3/3/05]
Another Day spent on the car.
Stripped the engine to take a look. It apears to have been bored by +0.5mm
And the cylinder head is in excellent condition. as are all the bearings and the krank

http://www.woodoouk.eclipse.co.uk/Mexico%20Pics/head.jpg
However the same can not be said for the differential. The Cross pin is snapped, and this has chewed most of the teeth on one of the gears.
http://www.woodoouk.eclipse.co.uk/Mexico%20Pics/shreded.jpg
http://www.woodoouk.eclipse.co.uk/Mexico%20Pics/crosspin.jpg
So a new diff it is then.

Been busy soucing parts and putting the engine back to gether. i know have for the car:
3.77 Diff

Pair of volvo 240 vented 4-pot calipers + 2.8i Capri discs

I had a good look at the cylinder head and it apears to be a 2ltr (larger valves etc.)

Been busy, Very Busy
Need some more upto date pics
http://www.woodoouk.eclipse.co.uk/Mexico/slides/IMG_2871.jpg
have done a little more since then. have made a start on the the rest of the car now the mecanicals are all sorted.
Using the ignition from sierra was a gr8 money saver. even without the correct plug it all went together nice a quick and worked straight away.
Ignition Amp
http://www.woodoouk.eclipse.co.uk/Mexico/slides/IMG_2861.jpg
The nice shiny Starter motor on the engine was knackered. the realy grubby mess of a starter motor that came in a box with the car however did work. (sods law)
shame the same cant be said for the fuel pump. the car came with 2 pumps not knowing what state they were in, we tried them both and being unsure of which connection was which did not help at all. so in total the fuel pump came off about 5 times. evenualy we came to the conlusion that both were dead. so when a bout a newone which was gr8. it had arrows on it and worked straight away :)
ITS ALIVE :D it now runs and the single box 4-branch system sounds great. However the carb did need a clean and rebuild as one of the Diaphrams was missing and it was causing a hughe dead spot when u give it some revs. crab has now been looked at and sorted. the carb apears to have larger jets that the std which is another bonus. (standard Carb thou)[/img]

Looking very good there. Calipers look the biz. Still glad I went the Wilwood route though as I don't really trust the mounts of the Volvo ones after chopping.

So here we are almost 3 months later an the car is now MOT'ed and ready for use :)
Car @ South Wales Classic Car Club Show (pencoed) .HERE (http://www.woodoouk.eclipse.co.uk/Mexico/Pencoed)

just need to finish of a few blemishes in the bodywork before i put the Mex decals on, the intireor (yes i know my spelling sucks :) ) its very sparse, all the RS caps are missing, + my mother is going to make me a new headlining as the one i have with the car is in perfect nick and would be a shame to cut it up for the sun roof. and the seats need a re-trim
Car drives very nicley, corners like a go kart, tends to drink petrol a lot when giving it some stick, and the sun roof rattles :) the joys of old skool motoring  much better that the 1.3 KA i drove before.

Blimey its been 12 months already?
Well the Mex has been good to me, 1000 mile trip to Lemans and back in june and then another 900 Miles to scotland and back for the RAC as well as been used as a daily driver in between.
well now that i have my first years no claims and i am now over 21 i can take out RS owners club insurance which has droped the price from £980 for 12 months to £400:eek: so i can afford a second car, (1.9 Deisel polo) so i just for the good weather days now.
Now that i have finished paying for the deposit on my first house i can now start spending money on the mex again :slurp:
first thing is the bumpers,
Shot blasted and powerder coated
http://www.woodoouk.eclipse.co.uk/Mexico Pics/bumper2.jpg
Excuse the fly splatters :D
as you can also see there is a large smatters of Anti-Rust paint, on the spot light holes, on the front arches and also at the bottom of the front wings, the paint in these places has flaked off completley!!!
It comes off in large flakes and goes strait to bare shiney metal who ever painted the front end obviosly doesn't know how to key metal work for paint
Car also failed its MOT last week due to completley knackered rear suspension bushes. Re-test this sat
Well have started saving for this winters project 2.0ltr Zetec on throttle boddies,
good luck for saturday - cars lookin good :thumbright:
