Iv`e had 2 nicked,

1 signal amber rs2000 - got recovered intact but with chassis numbers on top plate destroyed and plates missing.

1 series one turbo - (4years old with 34k) recovered down the street. Had a vecta system fitted, once the fuel in the system was used it went nowhere. Door locks and ignition barrel damage.

Scumbags were caught in both cases, went to court and they got small fines. How ****ed off was I.

Series 1 Turbo.....same car nicked TWICE off the driveway within 10 months each other.

1st Time:-
Professional job. 4 bods in banger drove up from down south at 4am, acquired 2 cozzies, 1 4x4 and my turbo. They dumped the banger and convoy'd the 4 Ford's back down south.
Somebody driving North on other side of carriageway recognized the lead cozzie (fancy number plate) and called the owner whom he knew. Got him out his bed to check his driveway "Dang!, it is my car....it's gone!".
The cops were called and a road block set up......the 4 Ford's arrived at the road block......all of them jumped into MY car, did U-turn and the police chase got underway. Cops got them at a dead end, chased them across a field. They collared one of the guys and found the "shopping list" in his pocket.
Damage:- fuel cap broken off, ignition mechanism mangled.

2nd Time:-
Kids. Car found 15 miles away in local city street....on blocks. Concerned neighbour phoned the cops to say that some kids were throwing petrol out a can all over the car and were playing with matches.
Damage:- Interior robbed including seats, wheels gone, suspension damaged. Insurance write-off.

Suffice to say that was an end to fancy expensive cars for me........that's when I bought my 1980 MKII RS2000.

Had an attempted theft of my Cav SRi in '92 from Sainsburys car park in Salford, then my Mk2 XR2 in '93. Unfortunately (for the thief) we caught him trying to get in, apparantly he'd "lost his keys". He was a *bit* surprised when I got them out my pocket and said "what, these keys?" Let's just say he was struggling for breath a bit as he left.

Uncle had 4 RS2000's stolen in the 80's, generally from Macclesfield / Stockport areas. Both Mk1's never turned up again (basically road / rally cars, so probably stripped), 1 Mk2 was never seen again, the 2nd turned up in a lockup in Liverpool minus the interior 3 months after it had been nicked. Uncle hitched up the rallycar trailer straight away but by the time he got there it had gone again, was found next day pretty much as a bare shell. That got turned into his last rally car when the insurance paid out (1301 LV where are you now?)
