Been working away so not been on here for ages
Took Mk1 upto Motoscope @ Northallerton today to try and alas get it running right ready for next week (hardly driven it or looked at it since LT last May!!) Was running like a pile of shite on way up (nothing new there) anyway...

On the rollers 1st run was about 67BHP @ 6000 was missing like hell etc. Richard [aka 'Pock'] who runs Motoscope really seemed to know his stuff, stripped the carb down put the correct size jets in, tightened whatever it was that was loose in the bottom up, put back together and gave another run where we had about 85BHP, he still wasn't happy that the thing was running right however and was certain it was ignition problem, took dizzy cap off and noticed rotor-arm was catching on the cap (metal filings in dizzy housing - scuff marks on rotor arm) so ground bit off the arm to make it fit snugger & so wasn't catching on contacts in cap and stuck back on rollers - at which point ( couple hours later after playing) he said he was happy - go take it for a run.....

Well - I now have a different car altogether! I actually got it sideways with ease, runs miles better and soooo much smoother

At last someone who knows what they're talking about - would reccomend 'Pock' knows his stuff, I WON'T BE BREAKING DOWN NEXT WEEK LADS - PROMISE!!!! :thefinger::cool:

He's a good lad :thumbright: They always seem to have a historic Mk1 or Mk2 in there when I go down :D

Yeah, it's amazing how many people acknowledge you when you're in an old Escort these days

Going to try and get mine back down there next week just to check the fueling with the new carb.

Does anyone know what happened to Dave that used own Motoscope? I used to deal with him when Motoscope was in Great Smeaton back in the seventies.

He sold out to Richard about 4 years ago, still owns premises which Richard rents off him.
