Year Identification

OK - Just bought my RS 2000 and its on a W plate.
How do I know that it is a W plate and not an older car with the chassis plate swopped.
The car has had new inner wings and floor pans.
I seem to recall you could tell by the number of rivets on the baulk head or something - anybody got any ideas.

PS - I ve just found a guy in Nottingham that has serveral garages full of rs bits, from glass to bonnetts, and wheels to gear nobs.

If it's a genuine 1980/81 model then the chassis plate should be on the O/S Inner wing rather than on the front slam panel.
