Does anybody know the colour of the rear panel on a RS2.
I know its black but does anybody know which black.
While im on anybody clarify where the chassis plate underthe bonnett should be - either slam panel or os inner wing top.
And just a thought - mine has had new inner wings and the muppett that put them on threw the old one with the chassis number un - can this be re etched/stamped anywhere

The nearest I have ever seen is "Jap Black" this is a straight black but lacquered with a semi matt finish.

It is used by many manufacturers to do Black trim items on bodyshells.

I could be wrong but pre 78 are on the slam panel and after were on the inner wing.

Early small chassis plates are on the slam panel.

Later larger chassis plates are on the o/s inner wing

Theres a proper colour called Ford Trim Black i've seen that used and it looks right
VIN plates changed for cars built after 1st January 1980
If your chassis No is GCAT followed by an S,T,U,or W it should be on the slam panel
If your chassis No is GCAT followed by an A, it should be on the inner wing.
S- 1976
T- 1977
U- 1978
W- 1979
A- 1980
