Ozzy's Rebuild...(Mk1 Escort)

Hi there folks, as some of you may know my mum n dad have aquired another mk1 escort...anyone who knows us...knows we are escort daft in this family...which aint a bad thing :rolleyes: lol ....although it takes up alot of our spare time! lol
Maw n paw used to rally for 7yrs in the early seventies with mk1 escorts...thus how were right into mk1 and mk2's...
A few months ago they bought another mk1, which doesnt need alot of work doing, to get her up to our standards :)
The car was bought as a non runner :rolleyes: cause she was that solid the engine wasnt important...although after a session with my oldskool da and timing sorted she burst into life and sounds sweet as a nut :D
Shes already got some good mods like being turreted, 6point Safety devices cage and the burton spec x flow..
Our plans are to fit various grp4 and rs parts, seam welding, big gearbox tunnel, skids, anti tramp bars, and so on :)

My dad was working away on her over the weekend and removed the, engine n box, crossmember, front struts, diff etc and got her up on the spit ready for the fun to start! :)

He collected a wcxm and engine mounts for x flow, elec fuel pump kit with mounting bracket, mk1 polycarb window kit with sliders, weld in strut brace, mud flaps, mud flap brackets, full forrest spec sump guard, xflow ring gear, spare wheel post, gussets, fuel tank platform, large gearbox tunnel and collected some bits for my mk2 aswell. http://scottisholdskoolescorts.co.uk/images/smilies/icon_cool.gif

Been busy over the past few weeks working on mk1 trying to get her ready for the lakes etc...my mk2 hasnt been touched :( lol
Im getting a bit tired as I feel like iv went through this already not that long ago...which I have with my mk2 :confused: lol

It was that long ago when I got the mudflaps...they were origainally for my mk2 :rolleyes:...im sure we got em from RACE ;)

Dads collecting some more gear today,,,full set of nuts etc for minilites, another fuel pump, the correct ring gear lol and some bits for mine also.

Been getting a good bit of work done to the wee mk1 over the past few days and good bit done today....
Sat: Tank in, fuel pumps mounted, pipe work run inside...

Well she's came along way in the past 5months or so as we have been workin our asses off trying to get her ready for the lakes :rolleyes: ... and alots been done since the last update plus you will be pleased to know that iv got plenty o what a resto thread needs...yip!... pics a plenty! lol :)
Alot of the parts fitted ready for mot...we had a change of plans on the old 40's that came with the car so we went for a nice new shiney set of 45's!...makes a great soundtrack now :yeah::yeah::yeah:

Well I have to own up that I got the 1st drive!...what a sound! :eek: :cool: lol
Took it easy for the first few mins to bed things in and see if everything was ok....then she got a wee burst sideways up the drive :cool:
All things going well will be taxed and motd this week then we will get some miles under her belt before the lakes :)

She is going to be going onto gravel stages soon so we have been doing some more mods...
Which were as follows.....
Got her in and on stands etc ready to weld on the chassis to sill skids, had to remove mudflaps for welding.

Finally done the gravel test day and had a blast.
Going to be sorting the underside with full length chassis to sill skids, got ones up front and they worked a treat with the gravel rash!...once I get em welded on and all painted il get some more pics up.....

Going to fit full legtnth chassis to sill skids next week as we have the fronts but full legnth ones would be spot on...as you can see it fair takes the paint off! :rolleyes: ....all well worth it tho! :D
Thankfully she is a solid wee ****er as the stage can knock hell out the cars!
