View Full Version : what they worth
Hi all
still being new to the mk2 scene i was wondering about the prices of mk2's, i know what sort of prices restored mk1's are worth but have never seen a good comparision for mk2's except maybe 18's.
Any ideas peeps, i would hazard a guess that a properly restored rs2 must be between £10-12 k and mex between £7-9k ????

I would probably say a grand or 2 lower
even though some are still going for silly money at the mo

A complete car no MOT for stripping or MAJOR rebuild - £0.00 - £500.00
MOT'ed for 3+ months but a minger also major rebuild - £300.00 - £900.00
3 - 12 month MOT in need of a load of TLC ! - £750.00 - £1750.00
12 month MOT daily useable small TLC required - £1500.00 - £2750.00
12 month MOT with next to nothing to get spot on - £2500.00 - £4000.00
12 month MOT with very good show car potential - £3500.00 - £5500.00
12 month MOT excellent show car - £5000.00 - £8000.00
12 month MOT Concours winner - £7500.00 - name your price !
The above are simply my own opinion and is for a Standard spec car.
Prices can be effected by the following :
Originallity
Documentation (History etc) Old MOT's (you know the sort of thing)
Mileage
Modification's :
This is the worst area to price as the cost of modifications can far outway the cost of any car RS MKII or otherwise.
Careful consideration and negotiation is required when pricing a modified car.
I suggest choosing the above price list to gauge a ball park figure and start from there.
Any comments ?

12 month MOT with next to nothing to get spot on - £2500.00 - £4000.00
this one and next in list might be a bit ?'able if the car needs nothing to get spot on surely it would be near show car material ?

"Spot on" is a long way from "Show car"
Spot on is use all the time, enjoy and have no worries condition wise
Show car is in-frequent use and hope it dont rain ! - lol
Modified is BEST

Be nice if John Hughes could pass his comments on pricing.
As Johns role as registrar he is tasked with giving valuations to RS MKII's.

come on ruddy you should have it welded back together buy now m8 not long to the CUMBRIA SHOW :bounce:
A car is only worth what someone is willing to pay!
mk2 prices will continue to rise due to demand out doing availability and qualification into historic motorsport.
Good news for us owners.

that right ....
i had a mk1 1600 gt i got it for £1625..00 used it for 4 weeks and then sold it for £2650 that bloke then put it classic ford and sold it for £4000
so ders is right.....
there was also a black rs2000 1 owner 26000 m and in mint condition that car sold for £10,500.00
so there you go if someone want a car they will pay for it........
