View Full Version : Back on the rollers
Car was down at Circuit Motors today for a much needed tune up.
I had the following done:
45's balanced, floats adjusted and new jets.
Ignition and cam timing.
Cylinder compression test
1)185, 2)180, 3)185, 4)190
Before and after run on the dyno.
Made 110 atw, there is more in there. Biggest difference is the driveability of the car in the mid range, feels a whole lot better. Maximum respect to Paul Shepherd, he knows his cars.

Came recommended by steve p.
I have used Circuit Motors next to Castle Combe Race Circuit.
Its done on the rolling road, I think they charge £50 an hour plus what jets they need to use, or you can book the whole morning for £150.
They are very good.
Should get a bit more, as ive a standard 2.0 with a fast road cam twin 45's 118 at the wheels ;)
I agree with npikey, i had mine tuned in July by a company in Sitingbourne Kent who deals in Webber carbs mainly. I have a standard 2.0L engine with standard cam and twin 45's on it that were missfiring like anything :( , He gave me a printout before and after, it was knocking out 103 before and 118 afterwards....:D
Would recomend him to anyone, and only cost £105 including rocker cover gasket.....:)

I'm know there is latent power in the engine. I gotta hunch what it is, but won't know for sure untill I have the right funds.
Definately not the tuner though, he's solid.
Nice car.
How come on the 2nd run the engine made 4.1 bhp more at the fly, but 6.8 more bhp at the wheels

You're right, i've lost 2.7bhp somewhere !
well worth the tune up and good to know there's more power there if you want it :)

No, the opposite, the drivetrain seems to have found an extra 2.7 bhp!
