is there anything wrong with that then after all we are all into the same thing and if you chat and have a bit of fun aswell as talking about rs2000s and problems with them and restores i carnt see anything wrong with that i dont understand why you 3 are getting funny about it and the thing with the logbooks only keeps more rs2000 on the road and makes it cheaper for the boys that carnt afford to pay for a real one
and my mex being stolen has got nout to do with logbooks being sold.

Paul, because it against law & creates fake RS2000 not replica's people end up buy something that is genuine and turns out not.

if the car has been destoyed then the ID should be to as that car does not live on.

to add

I know people who have lost 1000's on this sort of thing, thinking they have a cossie and finding out when it goes to a specialist for a tune finds out its a GLS saff.

Christ Paul, if you can't see the point that is being made here then I think you need your eyes testing mate.

I would have thought that you of all people (after having had a car nicked yourself) should be dead against the trading of logbooks and tags - after all it is probably some greedy green eyed b'stard after doing just that who has relieved you of your Mex.

I just can't understand how anyone who claims to support the RS MKII marque could possibly condone the sale of tags and logbooks.

In respect of having more RS cars on the road - I'm sorry mate but again you contradict yourself. If someone has got a MKII shell and stuck all the appropriate bits on it including a logbook and tags - that does not make it a MKII RS2000/Mexico/RS1800. As a club we should concentrate our efforts on making sure that the cars that rolled off the FoMoCo line as genuine RS cars are preserved - the best way to start doing this is to stop people ringing them !

I realise I can be accused of bieng arrogant with my points of view from time to time but I really can't see how anyone can argue that selling logbooks and tags to make fake RS cars up is supporting the marque.

You miss my point again mate - did YOU not claim in another thread that YOU had a logbook and tag for sale ?

look several posts down on the thread.

question

i had my mex stolen

i have now found a genuine mex in a garage that got taken apart and the bits sold including the id about 9 years ago the shell is still there he was going to scrap the shell but never got around to doing it

do you think its a bad thing for me to buy this genuine mexico shell and put another id on it to save a genuine mex...?

I'm with Arron on this!!!

changing a cars ID to another is ringing, even if its the same type of car.

Paul your begining to sound like, I'm alright Jack, sod everyone else.

destorying the ID & not selling it would solve it, I destroyed the ID for a RST because it was damaged beyond repair, bought it back sold it as parts & got the shell crushed. I then informed the DVLA of its distruction/broken for parts. I did all this to stop any chance of a fake RST hiting the streets.

Could of kept it and sold it on.

As did I Kel, I owned a MKII RS for 15 years before some spiteful little ar5ehole burnt it out 4 years ago. I scrapped the car with DVLA and I have the tags for sentimental reasons in my file.

To be honest when i got my 2000 just over 2 years ago and started getting into the scene, i was shocked to see this things openly available for sale as i had always thought it was illegal and here are people openly selling them in broad daylight. Genuine enthusiasts hopefully will vito such activities which is what seems to be happening here which in my view is how it should be.

just my opinion and not wishing to cause offence to anybody!!!
