All right then:
1790 cc BDE spec all steel wetsump-engine, BLF14 Fast Road/Rally cams, adj. cam pulleys, 45DCOE Weber carbs, K&N filters, Aldon dizzy, Lumenition electronic ign, Tony Law exhaust, steel flywheel, 7,25 inch Tilton rally clutch behind that is a Quaiffe 4-speed SC/CR gearbox, single-piece prop, 4-linked Atlas axle with a 4.11 LSD.
Sort of the same spec as the Historic rallycars build by Sutton except for the cams, mine are FR/Rally ones, which do not make as much BHP as the L1's in Blomqvists car for example (did 180 bhp at 7000 rpm on the dyno) but it pulls from idle and has a flat torque-curve from 3-7000 rpm which makes it very drivable.

Leon, that sounds nice there, I'm sure that would sound the biz at full chat, I'm sure 7000rpm is a bit conservative eh!!!
Darran, again this is some spec there.

We do not have original RS1800s over here (Holland).
Mine is a flat front X-pack RS2 on the registration documents, but its full Gp4. Think I have shown Dave1800BDA some pics of the car some time ago.
Yes Dave, it sounds very nice but I have to keep friendly with the neighbours ! The Sutton cars make 205-210 bhp from 1800 cc, so 180 bhp isn't that bad for a road car.
My engine starts the first time without stalling, alot different from the dry-sump-BDA in the Sutton car at last National Day. Some person (don't know his full name but I call him Dave Rose) stalled it about a dozen times trying to put it thye car in the garages ....

Relatively speaking, my Mex is only very lightly modified, with a typical spec 2.1 engine - (Piper cam, Hepolite pistons etc). Standard RS2 Weber carb and airbox. The engine was fitted about 10-12 years back and has only covered about 8k miles
Certainly easy to get the back end out on the country lanes with the standard Steels and 175s!!!! dink
mine has std. 1600 with a chip conversion off the fella at our chippy :bounce: :compress: :geek: :flower:
goes like stink :alien:

built by my self as i work for roy, we also do all suttons bd's.
I need to get my shell painted now and need a concourse style paint job, but who do you trust, if anyone knows to an excelent paint sprayer in the midlands please let me know.

Hi there Wayne, did you come down to visit kev curtis a while back, I believe you came round to look at the car but I was out, shame.
Millingtons now theres an engine, I remember Mr Bradbury had one, car went really well, as it should.
What plans have you got for your group 4?
Cheers Dave
Yep that was me, Kev was really helpfull, we talked for age's, and id heard roumers of a red 1800, then kev confirmed this, i believe you were out at the sunseeker rally at the time. id still love to see the car or some rest pic's. if you have any Dave.
The grp 4 is a slow moving project and im building the car to a modern spec. i spent a long time considering which way to go modern or historic.
The problem i have is time as were so busy at work, as there's only roy and myself, the engine's are very popular choice for mk 2's.
I recently built one for Colin Mcrae's new mk 2, it will be at autosports, the engine that is. so will stig's RAC winning car etc , are you going up to autosports?

Dingy,
yes that was me doing all the hard work at ND ... and I wouldn't call it "driving" the thing that Dave R was doing.
If theres a BDA somewhere I won't be far away !
In fact helped John O'Connor chief Sutton mechanic to start the RS200 last year at Donington; well sort of ... I gave him a screwdriver to put in the ignition-key thingy and stood there for 20 minutes in the exhaustfumes waiting while it warmed up. :happy3:
CU, Leon.
