View Full Version : Belt Driven Animal
Well get ready (if your intrested) in the build of my Belt driven Animal in full historic group 4 spec. Will be finished by Xmas
I will firstly say i joined this forum a couple of months ago and found it to be the best forum for the escort very helpful and no idiots apart from myself.
Im going to start with the engine as i finished it today . I bought this engine still in the car it was in and had a good drive through the country lanes and its fooooking fast the car was the mk2 Jimmy Mcrae 2006 stobert escort historic winner which you can see on you tube. After the test drive i waited while the engine was removed and took it home.
Engine was in superb condition but i took to bits sump off etc to have a look and it was as new so just a general tidy up new gaskets paint the block cam wheels, Sump , rocker cover , new leads all new bolts etc etc
also in the deal i got the Terry hoyle works cam cover and an original NOS works VDO rev counter How rare are these items
gearbox is a ZF direct top race box with a Gartrac bellhousing and quick release kit
spec is 2.0 BDG with BDX big valve head ,48s dry sumped dyno was 245bhp Tony law manifold
hope you like the photos and i will be back with more news and photos on friday as the shell will be ready then its a little special

Hi everyone the shell is ready today so will upload some photos tonight.
Hi just an update with a few photos of the Belt Driven Animal. i was hoping to get the paintwork finished today !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is how far i got the underside, boot and engine bay all finished in the original works diamond white.
The full interior ford satin black to include door shuts as the original car was.
Bodywork Original Eaton Yale blue (Early shade 1978)
All EATON YALE LIVERY IS PAINTED in white there are no vinal stickers on this car and yes it was very HARD to get perfect .
Painted stripe across front wings arches and bonnet again painted on no vinal stickers.
Tommorow im painting the green and red stripes across the bonnet and painting the castrol sign onto the bonnet.
Then flat whole car and then polish.
I will give a full spec on the shell when its finished and add more photos of the under bonnet etc
Hope you like it and thanks for all the response to the engine photos ..
