View Full Version : Mk1 Mexico
Quite a while back I put a local guy who I have known for many years in touch with Mexico Mark and I beleive he bought this wee car from him, since then it has been stored and untouched. The guy has his own garage and large bodyshop but as is usually the case doesn't have the time to spend on the MK1. As my own car is finished and theres only so much daytime TV that can be watched I have offered my time to strip the Mex and get it onto the turnover frame. From there he will decide where to go, I don't think its gonna be a standard rebuild, there has been talk of bubble arches ..........
Will post pics occasionally.
cheers, Paul

The owner has rented this factory unit to build the car in, away from his buisness, it has the accoustics of a urinal ,not too sure what the next door neighbours will say when the grinder awakens from its rest ...:D

I do hope he is going to stick with an X flow as these Cossie engines are shite in a MK1 (Pet hate of mine)

What a shame to convert this car , something you might regret further down the road. there are still Mk 1 escorts out there you could cut out and bubble arch without killing this little beaut
Work on the Mex was delayed for a short while as it now shares workshop space with something else

Was a bit heavy on my £10 trolley jack but I soon had the 20"s off it for refurb, then it was back on with the Mex

Is the poster of the arched sebring RS on the wall the inspiration for the rebuild..?
I remember the car fairly well.
It's a nice original Mex that's not really been got at. It still has it's original vin tags on it.
Someone had done some work on the passenger side strut top & the drivers rear floor had some plates thrown at it.
Vinny did come & have a good look round it & did very nearly buy it.
Things it needs. I'd say full length strut top repairs both sides, maybe a little work at the top of the bulkhead where the wing mounting rails join.
It will need floors too. Can't remember if there were any bits on the chassis.
It's a real good base for a Resto & the way Ruddy works on them it'll be done for Ford Fair.
At least it should take his mind of selling his RS fo a week or two.
Whatch the grinder sparks on that Mustang..
how long will it take him to strip down the mustang?
