View Full Version : Javagreen Mk2 resto
Hello all, This week finally sees the starting point of the resto which has been something I have been wanting to do for a very long time now but things have always got in the way! Well yesterday I finally got into my tiny little garage and started work.....
So far I've dropped the front suspension, most bolts were seized so got kinda awkward manoevering most of the suspension out underneath the car! Bushes were as loose as a whores draws:D so made it a bit easier getting stuff off. Whilst underneath I started to scrape the waxoyl/other layers off to reveal the original underseal. I think it's about 5 mm thick!!! At this moment in time my plan is to have a useable fairly standard car....sure that may change:). A few bits of tin worm have been discovered so far. However, this is the first time I've done this sort of thing so it's going to be a steep learning curve!! I will try to post some pics up tomorrow.....
Thanks
Rich
good luck dude, post up some pics :D
Good luck....... you will need it...you may not think so now, but in 6months......:D

Thanks for all the comments....some pics as requested!
I've started to dip some components to get rid of the rust. Some early success but hard going!
Next on the agenda is to get some decent stands so I can get the whole car off the ground. Then drop the engine, box and axle.

Your doing a great job...
great project to get into that mate. see the escort agency is restoring a java green car also, they will soon be everywhere:D
Just had a look and it sounds like it's gonna be something special! Maybe I should just buy their one already done:D
I'm still struggling with the waxoyl removal technique!!! I think I've got waxoyl elbow!!!!
everything there sounds special, but not much seems to reappear.
the waxoil is always a nightmare but once its off your home free, keep up the good work mate
good luck m8,love the colour;)
vert nice car my lads fav colour
hows this car coming on lads
Everything progressing slowly...still stripping bits off. Because it's been sitting for a while most bolts have been a pain in the backside to get off. Still struggling with corroded split pins on the front suspension!!!!! Started cleaning some bits and as usual found some little horrors that will need adressing. Will get some pics up soon.
Cheers
Rich
