GET OUT IN THAT GARAGE BRIAN!
I've been out in the cold tonight fitting the flywheel & clutch to the engine getting it ready to pop in at the weekend. You've got to drag yourself outside & get on,it won't get done on it's own.

Looks spot on and i cant wait till i can get my engine out of mine so i can tidy it up and get it all sprayed the same colour as the outside.

RS2000CHRIS
30-11-2004, 19:46
Brian why not get the parts powder coated I did it saves so much time & gives a perfect finnish & it's cheap.
The RS is going together with the original & standard engine only covered 38000 miles,4 speed gearbox,gp1 bilsteins legs, alloy roller top mounts, bilstein rears, lowered aprox 1 1/2 inch,a set of date matched 7j ronal 4 spokes, every bush will be renewed with polly bushes and a new genuine Ford exhaust + lots of new nut's & bolts to hold things together 'I find they do help'

Banishit
30-11-2004, 19:56
I would but the axles getting painted for free LOL only a few quid for blasting time

Did you by any chance paint the underside of the car whilst it was on those axel jacks?? :laughing6:

Looking real nice. :ogre:

RS2000CHRIS
09-02-2005, 22:33
The complete shell was painted at the paint shop, but when i got it home on closer inspection the paint was a little thin on the underside in a few places.so I masked up the complete car at home & the painter came around to my house & resprayed the underside all over again with another couple of coats of 2k.There was so much paint on it was dripping off,but what a nice finnish. It shines on the bottom just like the top.

chris, did you alter your top mounts that are in the pics, as ders said?
did you get the washers sorted?
looking great by the way.
cheers.

RS2000CHRIS
11-02-2005, 20:47
The tops mounts finally got sorted out.On top of the original spring cup I removed the welded on stengthening washer, then I spot welded on a slightly smaller diameter washer. Then put the whole lot together & this all allowed the top mounts to spin nice & freely.
The brake pipes I made from coper & then polished them up to shine. The old Ford brake pipe clips were rusty so I used Volvo plastic clips that fitted directly into the original hole & they look nice & neat.

RS2000CHRIS
19-04-2005, 21:14
Thanks guys for all the comments.
Ian I got the underside to look so good by getting it sand blasted, then they zinc primed it,then they sprayed it with a very thick primer.all that for £90."best value for money on the car I think"Then I gave it a light rub down with scotch brite & then lots of stone guard, finnished with lashings of 2 pack paint on top of that lot.
Just fitted the rear bumper end caps after cleaning & spraying them yesterday.Tonight have just finnished spraying the petrol tank,so hopefully fit that tomorrow.
Keeping that mint steering wheel & interior till last to fit.
