I was going to have my car sprayed this coming w/e but the body shop manager has thrown a fit and stopped all cash jobs. This has left me with a problem not least where to get the car painted now.

After looking in his paint code book the sprayer was going to spray two test patches for me, one in Signal Orange and the other in Signal Amber as I'm unsure of the difference between the two. Am I right in saying that Signal Orange is the more redder of the two?

Could someone please post pictures of both to help me make my choice. Thanks

There were four different Signal Oranges!

Signal Orange/Amber 76 "L"
Signal Orange 77 "H"
Signal Orange 78 "0"
Signal Orange 79 "O"

Signal Orange 76 was called Signalorange in Germany and Amber in UK.

Oh, and yes - the colours are REALLY different. I know 'cos my car was obviously painted half before the works' summer closure in August 76 and the rest afterwards. Hence it is Signalorange 76 inside (floor pans etc) and Signalorange 77 outside! (Signalorange 77 is stronger than Signalorange/Amber 76)

Hey Wiggy. The orange one is my car. Stanford Hall 2003 at the AVO show wasn't it? That was the day after Hugh did his famous bog inversion, and I broke the windscreen and had alternator trouble at Brunters.

A very hot day I remember.

p.s. The old number plate is a bit of a give away isn't it. That car isn't good for stealthy travel.

that is sure going to be a tough decision, as both of those cars look FAB!!! i havn't even seen mine for a week or so, as its all covered up down the garage, but those two pics have just moved my loins, so im going to have to go down there now, and spend some 'quality' time with it :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:

Many thanks gents, I think it's going to be Signal Amber.

The son does have the final say as I going to give him the car when he's old enough to insure it. Then dad can go back to spending (throwing money away) on his first love, an Esc Cos.
