And if you've got all new ford parts to go on it

Be worth a bit of money - when its all done

when i look at my rs 2000 (pic below) it reminds me of rocky with 2 black eyes :blackeye: :blackeye:
Well i know i am going to be the odd one out hear but i am not really a concourse sort of lad :bom: dont get me wrong i do like a tidy looking car but more than anything i like to use them for what they where built for and thats driving (whatever the weather)the reason i say this is that my mate has got a totally mint series 1 RS Turbo and he is scared to drive it incase he gets a stone chip or some dirt on it  and for me they are about driving and not just looking at in your garage :banghead: and i just think the more you concourse them the less you will want to drive it :pale: so there is what i think anyway.

You've put it in a nutshell there Tara - well said mate!! I'm getting like that with my Mexico, and though not concours, I get really paranoid about stone chips, muck etc after all what I've spent. That's why this summer I am planning to run it for a few months as my runabout.
I would advise build a nice minty motor and keep it that way - the fun is in the upkeep and maintenance is it not as much as anything else!!?? Concours just turns ya loopey if ya ask me... :geek:

you have gone this far paul, you may as well finnish the job, but get a second car, after you sell all the parts you didnt need, when the job is complete. then you'll have one to drive and one to show. i couldnt have only one car and not be able to drive it.

Do what the good Ford intended when they built the thing. Drive it hard and sideways...........The grin factor will always outdo the "Trophy" Factor
Hi Paul,
I have spent fortunes on mine getting it concours condition, not to enter it into concours competition, but purely for my own pleasure. I have modified it also, to suit me! Cannot be arsed with all the politics that goes with concours. Do what you want to do, the value will increase anyway with all your new parts. The main thing is enjoy it!

I'm not a concours fan myself - it is of course good to see these cars in tip top condition and hats off to the owners who have done the work but as someone else said, if I had restored my car to that level I'd be too scared to drive it.
If I had the cash I would be buying the sort of bits you are Paul but I would stop short of painting the underside of the car - instead I would probably just stone chip it in black (which is what I will be doing to mine this winter) and powder coat all the suspension components giving me a very very clean car that can be used without fear of too much road damage.
Let's face it, all other areas of the car (i.e the outside, interior and engine bay) can be kept spotless without too much effort so with oly a small compromise you end up with a car that is 98% as good as a concours vehicle but that you can also drive.

well i think my mind is made up its going to be a road car for me to use
here is what iam going to do....
2.1 pinto with twin 45s rs2000 alloy rocker box 4 branch quickrack adj tcas
2 qu coil over leda struts ally top mounts ally hubs anti dive kit strut brace 5 speed box 1 p prop 3.54 slipper rear disc cosi calipers allround leda rear
adj shocks poly bushed allround and a nice set of 7 inch rs alloys to top it of.......al this on a mint white shell with all my concourse parts fitted in the car....
what do we think of that boys will she look nice and go very quick ????
Paul
If your happy with that then go for it, thats basically what i am gong to do with the mk2 and try to keep my mk1 going and maybe restore the mk1 when funds allow.
I think we all enjoy looking at concourse cars and admire the hard work that has gone in to them but i think more then ever now poeple are turning towards a really nice clean car that can be used and enjoyed without the hassle and wory of entering concourse.
There was an article in the rsoc mag a few years back about a guy who had a concurse mk2 rs2(sorry cant remember your name if your reading this) and in the end he sold it because he couldnt stand to lose and the stress that went with it , i think that story tells it all really.
So what you have to do now is get your shell restored and fit all those lovely bits and post plentys of pics so we all see the progress.
good luck m8
