View Full Version : Any Driving Instructors on here?
Is anyone here a driving instructor?!? I'm thinking of changing jobs, from a desk job to an Driving Instuctor. So i'm just wondering how much (roughly) you can make, obviously you have you put effort into it to make it work.
Cheers

You CAN make some good money in this day and age - there is an acute shortage of any CAREER with the words "Driver/Driving" in it!! I had a brief spell a few years back as an HGV 1 Driving Instructor, but I just couldn't find enough sets of plastic pants to go to work with...

I do HGV 1 driver training and my most common phrase is SLOW DOWN (I'm about to cack myself) Not bad money but can be a bit scarey at times
I feel safer at full chat in a MK11 down a country road!!!!!!!!!

As opposed to an old Volvo F7 in a ditch - which is what I had!! May do it again in the future though not sure..
Hmmm i'll need to see if i've got the bottle for it then. Might need to visit www.plastic-scants.co.uk. I still fancy it though. maybe do the training and see how it goes from there!
Cheers for the input lads

Hi stevo,
I done my ADI in 2001 because i wanted a change from driving a class 1 HGV on nightshift, but the money you can earn is not that great. They tell you £400 for 40 hours, but to do 40 lessons you need to work about 55-60 hours beacause of the travelling to get to each lesson. Then there`s fuel, car, insurance, pension plan etc to think about.
I wasted my cash (£2k) on this as i will probably never use it, but it has helped me in the job that i do now.
