RS2000 Gp4 shell, Gartrac alloy arches / ft spoiler , 10x13 rear & 8 x 13 front Compomotive split rims, welded in multipoint - through bulkhead - Safety Devices cage.

Coming along sloooooowly - just like my other projects

I'm undecided on the engine at the moment, my choices are :

2 litre Zetec on throttle bodies ( I haven't got this one)with one of those look-alike BDA cam covers on it.
2.2 Pinto (I've got this but want to put it in the white RS2 on IDF'S)
Cossie Turbo engine (In my scabby 4x4 Sapphire at present  )

Rob - would you even be able to run a 2.2 pinto on idf's (assuming they're 44idf's and not 48idf's - can this be done??)? I thought they would only power up to around 160bhp. A 2.2 pinto has got to be 200+...

Very nice indeed Mr. H, :cyclopsani: I trust there will be no 'agricultural' type work taking place :laughing1:
Go for the Zetec [ I am! ]

The reason the 2.2 (in the white Mk2) is getting IDF's is for the Gp1 look - I have the whole kit, so that's what it will get.

I know the 2.2 was good for 237 brake on 48's - but this is going to be a road car - so I think the IDF's will do, if I feel the need for more speed I have a set of throttle bodies for it already.

I'm veering towards a Zetec for the red car, but having been in a few Cossie Turbo Mk2's they are blisteringly fast and I've got the doner car on my driveway

There's some "Agricultural" welding on the cage in the red one, I think Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles may have had an Escort preparation business as a side line to their musical careers :D:D:D

I have sorted out some 38mm CDS tubing and an air saw to put this right

Rob, I didn't think you were keen on red cars,
Stick a real engine in it, BDA. one for sale on 'race cars direct' 1300 and only £2500.
Cheers Dave

Rob - I too like the zetec idea with the BDA lookalike cover. BDA would be even better but a bit too pricey!
In my opinion a MK2 has to look right, and yours certainly does, but it also has to sound right. Not with a whistling turbo :pottytrain2:
get some real grunt! carbs or throttle bodies, you know it makes sense!

I agree to a point - but those Cossie Turbos really shift - it's like being picked up and chucked down the road, the closest thing I can compare it to for acceleration is my Honda Blackbird

I can't justify the expense, and I would never be able to afford the rebuild costs if the thing went bang - especially as I will be caning the **** out of it on track - a Zetec or Cossie would be as much (or more) power for a lot less money.

As to red, it's not my first choice - but as this one was Venetian from the factory it's going to stay red.
