my last computer was a dell and it was very good until my house got struck by lightning and **** it
got a compaq now which is very good :)
I had a Compaq and the Service was pi§§ poor (mind you it wasn't Hewlett Packard at the time).
I have found Dell too expensive or the configuration I wanted wasn't possible.
Build your own, piece of pi§§

Got two dell computers here to
never had a problem :)
nice thing about DELL being you have some say in the configuration/spec, not that much between 'em all really as long as you've got enough RAM and a sensible processor.
Like I say I built mine myself, piece of cake really
