Manufacturer is "other"
Usually means it is a made from parts kit car
Chassis Number has been assigned by whoever put the car together
1600cc
Colour Blue
1975 Manufacture
Most likely back in the day it was a rally car built from bits !

That sounds about right mate. I was told by the guy who owned it that it had no seam sealer on the shell from new, twin cam engine and it had all kinds of aditional extras on it so i thought id try and find out a bit more.
He bought the car in 85 i think and didnt realy care what it was so he didnt find out its history or anything.He told me it is an rs1600 but i dont know enough about them to say either way. Was hoping someone may be able to tell from the details iv given??
well it say's (service) on the plate so i'd assume it was service shell. speak to martin (daytona rs 2000) he would know.

It's a Mex that was reshelled by Ford.
Break down the ARTXF
A= Escort
R= RHD
T= 2 Door Saloon
X= Mexico
F= Manual
373 Service is just that... The service shell number
The two are then tied together to give the Reshelled car it's new chassis number: ARTXF373
Monza is the the colour. Monza Blue.
I take it there is only one tag on the body..?

thanks for that mate!
There is only the one tag and log book left of the car!!!
The car was crashed then sold in bits in the mid 80s and the tag and log book have been sat in a draw ever since.:(
I would agree with Marks decode of the plate, however a car reshelled by a Ford dealer in period would retain the chassis no. of the car.
In this case it is more likely that someone bought a service shell from Ford and built up a car using new or secondhand parts or both. This was common at the time especially for rally cars. The fact that it had a Lotus engine should be a clue. Often the V5 will have a note on it like - Kit Built Vehicle or Built Up Vehicle or Built from new parts supplied by the manufacturer.
It is possible to date a service shell from the Service no. though I dont have the info to hand.
Have you tried getting the previous keeper history from DVLA to see if theres anything helpful on the old logbooks?

I agree, that black RSII on the other thread the other day still had the original VIN plate and the service shell build plate, with all it's peculiarities.
Didn't the RS 16s have the same model code as a Mex being an RS with a 16 lump in them, this would support the theory of it's being a reshelled RS16 or Twink

Model codes are C = RS1600, L = Twin Cam, X = Mexico & Y = RS2000
Some Mex's had the L model code but the Twin Cam was out of production by that time.
