After SKC's little fuelling problems over the weekend (all sorted now)
Thanx to RSBOREHAM for the use of his spare fuel pump @ The Pod
I have now done 3/400 miles running it in - lol and today I had the car rolling roaded @ Hi-Tech in Cradley Heath West Mids
Engine was revved to 8000rpm :violent1:
Produced 184 bhp @ 7095 rpm at the wheels :thumbright:
Engine sounded sweet and no nasty sounds at all :D
A smooth torque curve starting at 1750rpm maxing out at 145 llb/ft torque @ 5500 rpm holding till 6800rpm then dropping off
Drives spot on now and ready for run to Brook Meadow on Saturday
got a new fuel pump tho:rolleyes:

got a new fuel pump tho:rolleyes:
Certainly have :(
Pump must have been crap from new as when initially set-up Mick @ Hi-Tech said I didnt need a pressure regulator as it was running at about 4psi
With new pump fitted he has advised now that fuel pressure is a bit too high at apprx 5-6 psi and best to regulate it to 3.5-4.5 max

Paul I know that you are a VW expert but how many more times ?
The engine in your car is "based" on a crossflow but that twin cam head is not standard on a Mexico ;)

hey come on, answer my Q
i have difficulty relating to 'wheel' figures
nice one dave, knew it was around that mark from the conversation, but its nice to have it in b&w, great result...wheres me hat for croft:D
put the 45s on the pop
you be up to those figures:eek:
Aa a "rule of thumb" I was always told you lost about 25% through the drive gear but 240 bhp from a pinto is a little optomistic though.
Come on someone must have the correct formula.Hope is right though Dave as mine is a similar spec to yours :D

hey come on, answer my Q
I dont know the answer ! - lol
Flywheel BHP is only ever a guesstimate against "at wheel BHP" when done on rolling road as it is based on the speed of deceleration of the rollers
A certain percentage is "allowed" for gearbox and diff but a true flywheel figure is only achieved on a Dyno
I "guess" maybe 205-210 flywheel (maybe)
I now want to go on rolling road shoot outs for a "guidance only" comparison
All I can say is that at 11:30 this morning rollers showed 184
Tomorrow it could show 189 or only 170 and so on
Of course on a private dual carriageway oois also a great proving ground as well - lol lol lol
nice one that's good figures :) :)
sounds ok mate  , but you could eek out a few more with a 2.5" exhaust under the axle ;)
