halfords can get them or bigger store keep them on the self
Thanks for your responses :compress:
Brian,
all I can say is the Ford dealers you use are 10 times better than the ones over here.
Thanks again
Where are you based Gows?
An update on this,
I went back to the local Ford dealers (in Blackpool Dermot) armed with my part numbers from Brian, they have them in stock as you rightly said and I pick it up tomorrow, fingers crossed it will be the correct one but shall be taking the original cable with me to compare.
Thanks for your help once more

I'm suprised you had trouble if you're from Blackpool. The RS dealer there was Thomas Motors and they were very knowledgable. Does anybody know the Finis no for the clutch cable any help would be grateful. Many thanks Garth. :cat:

Thanks for that Brian much appreciated. :cat:
if you get stuck getting the exact right clutch, throttle and speedo cables for the old mk1's and 2's ect just get a speedo cable for a pinto'd sierra or the throttle cable from a petrol transit.
they might be a bit longer but in my case i needed a speedo cable which i could re-route away from my manifold because the original one melted!
hope this helps

Thomas Motors closed down unfortunatley about 10years ago and sold all the old stock when they went.
Seems to me Fords round here are not interested unless you have the correct info and give them hassle!
As soon as you mention MK2 Escort, they seem to have the same answer "I will look on the data base & phone you back" NOT!
I'm sure it's like this all round this country nowadays, unless someone knows any different?

my local dealer in Barrow is really good, or should i say the parts manager Gavin is really good  . Takes the time to go thro all the old micro fische and even lets you hunt thro them for what your looking for.....top bloke......... been in for so much stuff recently he knows me by name now
Not really applicable to this I know but worth a mention :
When I lived in Stockport in the early 90's, the local Ford dealer (Gordon Ford) employed a girl with a photographic memory. Every part I ever went in to buy from manifold nuts and studs all the way through to door rubbers, bodywork etc. - she knew the part number for it without looking. She claimed to have the whole parts catalogue for every Ford car memorised. I must admit, she never got one wrong !
Just a shame she was a minger.

I found my local dealer to be really helpful, especially when Paul Crackermac worked there !!
He went through the Microfiche and checked nearly every mk2 part to see if it was still available, we came up with some interesting parts !!
Mind you, a lot have gone obsolete recently - Fords probably sold the lot to GMS Capri spares !!
