John Taylor was the person judging the cars I believe.
He is the current sponsor of the concours at regional days (along with auto-glym).
I know my skater has been rebuilt to better than factory, as if I only did it to as good as standard, then it should already be full of rust round the filler cap as it is 12 months old.
The Class that Ricky, Hicky and Gerrard were in was "expert old skool" the cars in this cars may be trailered and are judged purely on condition and cleanliness - NOT originality ( so it doesn't matter if it is toooooo shiney ) :acat:
This is different to last year as expert modified & expert standard have been combined.
For cars that are totally standard there is stiill a standard class, but they must be driven.
As for national day, I'm not sure how the classes will be split. Which ever way it is done it will upset someone. :violent1:

do you know who u spoke 2 ian,was he a concourser or a local group member? am sure alan cox will be able to answer alot of your concourse question when u meet himTim, had a good chat with Alan the other evening, if we meet up, i,m sure he will point me in the right direction. All i know, he was judging the mk2,s
I haven't beenon the RSoc site 4 a while, so I can't comment on the MK2 Registrar problems. BUT, I can comment on the problems with the Concours. I've been a member of the RSOC(Australia) for over 20 years and i can say the general ideas of a judge was that they had their noses stuck in places, yeah well you get the idea. Now having been a judge for the last couple of years, i can be approachable and will talk to anyone who wants to know about the car or the Club. Admittedly, we don't have the numbers of RS cars you lot have, but I will take the time out to promote the Club anyway i can. It sounds like the judges need to realise there are people out there who can't afford to have a spot on top RS every year and give some time to the also rans, they do make up the bulk of any Club, whether they like it or not..

Hence why in the past few years the classes have changed from, being sorted by model
mk 1 twink/1600,
mk1 mex/2k
mk2 1800
mk2 mex/2k
rs caprito.....
Novice Pre 81 (new cars and people only, not judged on underside- and driven)
Intermediate pre 81 (not judged on under side - and driven)
Standard pre 81 (judged all over - driven)
Modified pre 81 (judged all over - driven)
Expert pre 81 (judged all over - may be trailered)which is more like a league system. This way, you are against cars of a similar quality and not forced to be against cars of the same model, that may be 100 times better than yours.

RSOC concours should be the same format for all shows. There surely has to be a transparant set of guidelines for all the RSOC shows. Dave told me a few weeks ago that there was going to be one class for expert old school based on presentation and cleaniness and maybe a modified class if there were enough entrants, not anything to do with how far up someones ar-e your prepared to go. You can pick holes in all the cars out there. It shouldn,t be left to "friends" and "phone buddies". Its interesting that the conversation i had with a certain owner of a certain car at the weekend echoed almost every word i,d heard from the registrar
Thanks Alan. We don't have to break up the classes like that. Just have the main Escort, Capri, Sierra models.

See rallye news for datails, regional day log book concours rules have been in the past 2 issues.

There have not been enough entrants (if any) to warrant a separate expert modified class that I know of. So all trailed cars will just be judged on condition and cleanliness. (separated into pre81, post81, post91 and cosworth)
