View Full Version : Old Photos Out of loft

Gents , bear with me on this , nuclear engineer by trade but this picture lark takes a bit of sorting out . Been in the loft and dug out photos from shows many years ago , no scanner hence digi photo of original print (!).
If you think the quality is upto looking at I will put some more up. Below should be a print of a yellow RS2 , this was taken at Burghly House in 88 I think , this was the first MK2 to start doing the shows with full leather trim.

Apologies , I know the quality is bad but that last one was awful , this next one belonged to a guy called Steve Brindley who was an official of the club in the early 80's , think he sold the Regalia , I also have a feeling Ders looked at this car several years ago when it was for sale

Hi Paul,
yes youre right i went to buy Steve Brindleys car around 87/88. I travelled to Stafford from home in Glasgow but was very disappointed with it. He was asking around £4,500, it had a leaking sunroof, several other faults. Needless to say i never bought it.
As for JSD 35W, Angus still owns it to this day but is in poor condition from what i have heard.

I have several hundred pics of RS`s in the 80/90`s will post some once i figure out how!

HRS901V , Signal red for those of you in black and white , came from Scotland and was very nice , eventually stripped for rebuild but rotted away in someones garden (no names mentioned) and I believe broke in two when it was tried to move it , never mind the trim was mint and I bought it. Then I sold it on to Mr. Hoarder , its a small world.

YHH610T , one of the original concours champs , used to give RUDIT and BCG a run for their money . Was owned by Paul Corkhill of Blackpool at the time , late 80's , I'd like this one myself as the reg suggests it came from County Garage Carlisle , my local (40 miles away) RS dealer at the time.

paul you have me in tears ,i used to own HRS 901V my favourite all time car,it broke my heart when i went to see it again after all those years it did indeed break in two after standing outside for ten or so years. You may recall me and Ders coming down to visit the cumbria group just for a run had a pint or two with you and i think russell.I went to stafford with Ders to view steve brindleys car we could write a book on the many, many heaps we travelled to view all over the uk every weekend.I remember the fun we had in the club in those days and your pictures of drayton manor, stanford hall, lowther park bring many good memories flooding back.Ask Ders to recall some of them as i am sure no one would believe us.I sold HRS to buy a midnight blue mk2 UFS 373Y imported from the isle of man in 1983.i have plenty photos too but dont know how to put them up

I remember the time you came down to our local meet , that must've been about 88/89 , I still had KEC the Riviera blue 2000 . I have added a pic below of UFS taken at Hopetoun House in the early 90's I would think. Nice to hear from the old skool and I hope I am not remembered for the wrong reasons !!!!!!!

Paul, as you seem to have all the Mk2 RS's in the world in your photo album have you got any of these RS2000's :

AOV 725T Diamond White/BVR/Webasto - ex Andy Edwards - seen in Rallye news circa 1989 ? and at National day etc. Nearly finished re-building this one - as a fast road car - not a show pony !!

RGC 132V Nordic Blue - Reading , Berkshire Car, spent it's last years on the road in Essex, now undergoing a concours re-build. (trailer queen to be )

GWE 111V Venetian Red - Last few years in Essex, mostly garaged and stripped !! - spares car - no interior when I bought it, this is the bugger that nearly crashed into the side of my van when the borrowed trailer came unhitched and I had to ram it off the road. Good job the car was well strapped down. Funny now, but it wasn't then !

WEG 244T Venetian Red /Black vinyl- only two owners on this, last one in Kent now a Gp4 Shell - to be my tracky.

APY 455T Diamond White - Spent last 10 odd years in Suffolk/North Essex, I'm breaking this one - just wondered if anyone knew of it.

FTG 222V Diamond White - Last few years in and around Essex, spare car for rebuild at a much later date !!

Just wonderin' like ??

The mex belonged to my wife`s cousin then i bought it after it was smashed. He bumped it at the front then left it sitting in the garden for approx 10 years. I went to look at it and found birds nesting in the centre console, rats had eaten some of the interior, and rust had destroyed the bodyshell (the sea is only 1/4 mile away). I salvaged what i could from it last year, rolling it over to get to the underside. The rest was put in the crusher and now its a cube about 3 ft square and sits in a srapyard on the island of Barra in the Outer Hebridies.
