mk 1 seems to me a liitle more harsh - a, to drive, b, comfort levels

had a daytona mex for 8 years and loved it, and one things for sure, they do put a smile on your face :)

You also get a lot more old blokes stopping you and saying "I remember when I used to have one of them"

Both great cars in my opinion, also not one I have owned has driven like another. I find them all different really??

get one of each, its the only way!

Differences:

Mk1: stunner in it's own right, possibly better looking, oooohh those curves:cool:

Driveability: MkII without a doubt a modern car, no p.....ing about looking for switches stamping about on the floor for the washers etc etc....

Mk1 more chuckable, brilliant fun, more so than the MkII with it's more pronounced understeer.

More metal = better feeling = stiffer shell, with it's smaller glass area, the Mk1 has a better shell, you're unlikely to see a Mk1 with cracks at the base of the B & C pillars! MkII suffers badly here if given some stick!

Instrumentation, Mk1, nightmare, MkII a dream (won an award in '75 for it's instruments)

Both fantastic for different reasons, one common denominator RUST:D

Had both, love em both. In an ideal world would have to be the mk1.

I guess people always would like something they don't have... I quite fancy a Mk2 flat front at the mo! :)

both mk1 and mk2 are good to drive the best mk1 to drive is a rs2000
as you can recline the seat
in the mexico you carn't do that and it's a bit upright
the mk1 also feels older aswell

ideally I would like to finish my mk1 Mex and I'm on the lookout at the mo for a droopy mk2 (hopefully in time for the lakes  )

then I'll have the best of both worlds

well i have just bought a mk1 with a 2.1 pinto and twin 40 dellortos and i find it much more fun than the mk2s i have had it seems alot more lively on the backend but easyer to control

but for looks i would have me a mk2 rs 1800 just because of my rallying memories

had mk2's for years then got into mk1's. love the body lines and would never consider a mk2 mex over a mk1. however a nice sport or harrier would be seriously considered.

Mk2's for me.

Have owned an example of nearly every model bar an RS1800 and the Estate.

Like the Mk1 a lot, but have only owned the one Green GOON
