whats your opinion on powder coating the wheels all black, they will be going on my mk1 van

down in spit and polish there is a bmw with black chrome wheels on it , that would look nice :yeah:

Would be easier to keep clean!! Depends on the colour of the car...would look good on a White, Red or Signal yellow car IMO. Plus it would be nice to have a spare set in silver aswell!;)

not sure on powder coating wheels, but with the parts etc on my car powder coated parts are prone to marking ie scratching marks when cleaned even with delicate cloths etc, imo

I'm not a fan of powder caoting either only on certain things that are not polished , servo tower bracket axle casing

the blaster I use charges £10 a wheel EXTRA to blast as its a nightmare to remove , and it damages quite easily, paint you can touch up too

Aaro, not having done any work on this type of wheel I couldnt help you on this, I was only giving an opinion to powder coating, that it marks quite easy, paint would be the obvious choice.
The boys who have these wheels will no doubt answer your question

IMO, entirely black wheels look as though they are covered with brake dust and look dirty. Wheels make cars, so needs to be right. Each to their own though.

ok im painting the van blue, its olympic blue now but am going slightly darker, im only changing the colour of the shiney bits to black :D .....as ive got a few spares of 1/4 bumpers, dr handles etc that if the scheme dont work for me I can just change back to chrome ;) ....now to get another set of 7" rims then for the scheme.....that can be one of the last things to get for now though as ive to many panels to buy.....:mad:

there was a mk1 van on ebay a few weeks ago with a chopped roof , kinda got the drag look from it & it looked bloody awful... the guy should have been gased with full force :D .....got any pics of the mk1 yet???

not yet m8...i got it the other day and its' gone into storage untill ive done the yellow mex and the red mex
and once i come back of my holes in sept i will make a start on the old girl then
but untill then she is tucked up in starage in a carcoon :D :D

i have a mk2 van in my sight...;) ...i don't know if i will get it but i might:D

only had one yellow one m8.....the red mex is another on i got as a resto project
i have started to take it apart and it's going to the welders on tuesday next week
i'm trying to restore 2 cars buy june this year....:eek: :eek: :eek:

well PAF will be ready somtime in may and the red one will be ready in june me thinks
well if i work hard enough on it.....:eek: :dizzy:

**** sake paul you aint hanging around on the cars so this year are ya??? whats the mk2 van like? clean & standard...i might have one lined up myself but i need to build a new shed first & thats gonna cost me a fortune...my mate is building it for me but even so with the concrete floor etc im looking at €8k+ :( ...but i need that more than a new van or new red mexico!!!!:D
