Hi Mr H
How did you identify this as a raleigh mag burner with what appears to have no decals?
I was right into BMX had a ET Kuwahara, of which was from the film mind you didn't come with a basket on the front for the said alien LOL.
At the time i think was £177 seen one on the bay recently was approx £1500 restored.

Bought my Et Kuwahara in 1983 new (pro model with skyline mags and a quality crank ) for £200 , would swap mk1 for a minty mint example lol
Heard they are going for mad money , was the budget quality bmx of the 80's
Used to race mine and loved it :D

Several barn finds quite a few Mk1's including a few Mexico's.
I know to two Mk1 RS2000's sitting in a barn now inches thick in dust both done less than 10,000 miles. There's a Lotus Sunbeam & Chevette HS in the same place both low milers as well. Will he sell them... will he F**k
Also know to a black mk2 RS2000's that's sitting on top of a steel bin in a barn.. Not for sale either.
Found my RS1600 wedged down the side of a barn too.
Oh & I had a Terracotta Mk2 with quick pinto found in a old milking shed.... Moooo :D

ill add my piece of info, neighbour buried a crashed mk1 lotus cortina minus engine, as well as 2 mk2 rs2000's, he told me that back in them days nobody wanted them so he buried them, bent & crushed them with his himac digger & are only a few 100 feet away from my house.... ...how sickening is that.....he did leave a few bits & bobs of escorts lying around but not much

Did some research on T'internet and with the help of a Mate who knows about BMX's we came up with Mag Burner.
They were white with white 'bars, had "Simplex Raleigh" wheels, SR stem etc.
The only thing missing from this bike is the Aeroyal seat and the decals. :)

havent you lot got anything better to do than scavenge around old farmyards:eek:
Did find a five 'egger' blackbirds nest once in a barn near me, over a few weeks watched them eventually hatch and take their formative flight, t'was good.

talking about barn finds I just saw this in another forum it made me vey very jealous and pity for that guy, he needs to do alot of work
Apparently the owner left the cars lying in the barn for the past 15 years and it has only been opened when he decided to sell a car

All the time :D
cos i have a recovery truck i'm allways draging old fords out of barns and garages, some storage yards/barns you wouldn't beleive the tin tucked away in the corners
Only last year a mate found an M reg Mk1 2 door escort in a naibours garage, bought it for £350, sold it next day for £500  and he was happy (did tell i was gunna kick him in da nuts for not telling me :) )
It got stolen last week from Dagenham from the blokes back ally  it was just parked there for 6 months unlocked and eventually somone took it :(
I used to sub for a large garage renting company disposing of all it's dumped cars, owners who'd defaulted on the bill or died ect, got paid £50 to take away a 2 door Mk2 :D , straight up the A1 and sold that little gem to a rally prep firm :spliff:
One garage i had to clear contained the entire contents of a closed down ford dealers, full of NOS pannels (80's), micro fiche readers/sheets ect, took me 2 years on Ebay to shift that little lot, still got boxes of unidentified NOS in the garage form other manufacturers
Only a few months back i had to drag a pre production Mk1 cortina out of a garage it had sat in for 30 years, it was hanging but possably the oldest cortina still about :thumbright: the owners still has the consol rally car he raced in back in the early 60's tucked away so there's still surprises out there :D

Hardly a barn find and it wasn't Chard it was Sturminster Newton, I should know;)
I bought it from a bloke in Chard in the state it was in in the pic, no time nor money at the time to sort it out:o
I only stumbled upon YFX as the owner flogged my mate a Mk1 Golf GTi. 100.000 miles on the clock, and had already had engine diff and gbox overhauled by an ex-owner who worked for Rolls Royce at Filton

I was hardly gonna leave it outside my front door was I?
What are you accusing me of exactly?
Abandoning a child in a steel shed or a 30 odd year old car that through circumstances beyond my control I didn't have time or cash to see a resto through.
Bit of a funny attitude, instead of being happy that you had the chance to resto a motor that hadn't been caned you blame me for doing the best I could to protect it??
I seem to remember having the car covered actually, probably not when you came as you wanted to "view it" anyway if want a climate where it's not damp move to California.
I also heard that the "previous owner" got some bad press in the Havoc, if it upset you that much to see the RS in that sort of storage then you shouldn't have bought it. No need to slag me in a publication.

Calm down Jamie was just taking the water , :D there is plenty of it going on here on this forum.
Can mail you a copy of article i wrote in havoc if you so wish,,no personal pop at you just stated barn was very damp and seats were mouldy.
Was just shocked and i understood why you had to sell at time , was over the moon to buy it and am pleased you did not park it outside your front door.

got my 3 door out of a barn near stansted, sitting for 5 years on bricks covered in finger print dust.local kids got in and nicked the rims, seats, spoiler, and a few other bits.the owner just left it there.you couldn't see in the windows for dust and bird shit.took loads of pics, but none came out :mad: the bloke had a fiesta xr2i with full rallycross kit on it,and converted to rwd,i wonder if it's still there?? i know of quite a few tasty cars just sitting about, but the owners wont sell them.

Yes imported in 90's not used since 97. Tis a very early model , paint is wrong , looks like a 75 Z1B. Unsure what to do with it paul, Concours z1's worth as much as a very mint mk2. Been doing a bit digging and a genuine set of cans are £1,200 , loads of bit avialable but at a premium. Just cleaning and trying to get her to run right .
