A lot of you on here have followed my rebuild of SKC.

It is getting close to completion now - yippee !

So today I rang Footman James (been with them for the last 3 - 4 years Classic Policy) to convert my "Laid up" (insured whilst off the road) policy to Fully comp and was shocked to be quoted £333.50 ! £200 excess ! 3500 miles !

I made them aware of all mods carried out to car and they blamed the mods for the increase.

Well I wasnt going to accept this quote so rang a company that is trying to assist the MKII RS club -

AON RISK - DUDLEY W.MIDS - 01384 552733 Chris Jones

They again are made aware of all mods and guess what ???

£131.50 Fully comp 3000 miles £100 excess

Well they had my switch card straight away !!!

The policy is with Royal Sun Alliance as well so no obscure unknown company

Can you beat that ?

Martyn, I'd be interested to know if you do get insured with them. It may be that I just got put through to someone who couldn't be bothered.

Dave, as soon as I'm sorted I'll post the details.

Cheers

Got quoted £183 with £100 xs, for my GP1 MK2 RS2000 then phoned Dominion Plan and got quoted £218 with £150 xs. Phoned chris back and took it. Sounds a bit expensive compared to some of your quotes though!

I have had 1 bad reply about them (in the interests of balanced journalism !!) they are not as cheap with a 1.6 Mex having a 2.0 litre in though.

This is the third year with them and every year it has stayed the same price,

£61 + tax which comes to staggering £64 per year

For my old bus ain't bad with £2000 agreed value and £100 excess.

Can't go wrong!!!!

My mex came with a 2 litre. They said it wouldn't make a diferrence to the premium. That's a point, Have to renew mine.

ATT: Checkyouout

My insurance was accepted @ £131 fully comp, declared as a group 4 car.
Apparently the problems occur if you deviate from the original engine etc.. i am running a 2.1 pinto (abeit high spec) but this is not a problem as it was the Ford fitment.
This also applies to the rally spec as the majority of parts were available as Ford optional extras through the dealers.

Hope that helps!!!

AON are good for insurance, but mine went up by a fiver this year.:dropmouth:

£117 agreed value, unlimited miles. (was told that because the car was over 20years old i didn't need to restrict the mileage to 3k and it wouldn't affect the premium) sin2
