Well, you read the comments from other contributors and just have to agree. The skill and patience of the brothers is just unfathomable, in the states or the UK that chassis would have been scrapped, mind you at least they have some sensible tools the Indians and Cubans are doing similar things with stone-age tools. Nevertheless, half that rust would bring most grown men to tears, and as for in effect building a new car from half rusted away patterns, well it's just incredible! Nobody can afford to that skilled in the "west" you certainly couldn't earn a living spending so much time recreating panels by hand like that.
I thought (on the other project) the idea of building a chassis out of stainless was a great idea, I've dreamt of building a MkII like that, as the bloody things wouldn't rust away like they do!
I suppose it's possible to do, the panel dies and specs must lie around somewhere, it must actually be possible to re-produce a shell in it's component parts but instead of using 0.8mm steel you could use 1mm stainless.
