Did many of same 1977 events but can't recall too much about that car - or Graham Elsmore's. Will check for any pictures. One point is, almost all of the "full Group One spec" bits were homologated just before the start of 1977 - bias pedal box, 4.63 cwp for narrow Atlas etc (note "Narrow" = standard Escort track - all this "baby Atlas" nonsense is a modern aftermarket creation!). Just about everything "Group One" except the flat front shell was homologated by then.

As far as I understand it, "Baby Atlas" is just a generic term for the axles fitted to continental escorts and 2 dr Ghia's (German build). As I see it, it's just an "affectionate term" for the smallest of the Atlas/Salisbury axles i.e. no Tranny, Cortina or Capri Axle. The mutilation of 3L Mk1 Capri "normal Atlas" axle for use in the Escort in competition, being described in our favourite Esc prep manual.

                  Got a reply

Malcolm Wilson is out of the office until after the Cyprus Rally, however I will speak to him on his return on 27th September to see if he can help with this.

                  Best Regards
